History

A vision of community living at its finest was realized in bringing this new neighborhood to the ranch that was farmed by the Mills Family for generations on the edge of King City, California.

A neighborhood where King City could seamlessly grow, yet honor its historic roots as a great small town. Planned according to traditional community patterns, Mills Ranch is a multi-faceted neighborhood where garden apartments, small cottages and larger homes are found on the same streets, and where the garages face the lanes in back. A neighborhood where people come first, and can enjoy the neighborhood while lounging on their front porch or take a stroll to the park.

Charette

How can a new neighborhood capture and preserve the essence of a traditional town?

To learn how, we went to the source. Before putting pencil to drafting paper, we met with members and leaders of the community and asked “What makes King City special?” We held a public workshop to get input on what it would take to seamlessly weave Mills Ranch into the fabric of the existing town. The workshop, called a “Charette”, ensured that the Mills Ranch is not just the builders’ vision, but the vision of the people who already call King City “home” and make it the special place it has been for generations.
